MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two Memphis firefighters were injured while battling a house fire in Midtown Tuesday afternoon.

The Memphis Fire Department responded to a fire in the 1100 block of Forest Avenue just after 4 p.m.

The fire was under control in minutes, but one firefighter had to be taken to Regional One Hospital with 1st & 2nd degree burns to his shoulders.

A second firefighter was treated and released on the scene for minor burns to his hands.

Officials said there were no civilian injuries.

Fire investigators said the origin and cause of the fire was determined to be a faulty wall receptacle in the living room. The home did have a working smoke detector.

The Red Cross provided assistance for two adults.
