MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A former AutoZone employee is behind bars after allegedly getting angry and shooting up his general manager’s car.
Memphis police responded to vandalism in the 4200 block of Riverdale Road around 6:23 p.m. March 25.
The store’s general manager told police that an ex-employee, Orlandon Watson, had pulled out a handgun and fired several shots into his work vehicle, a 2017 Subaru Forester.
Watson got upset and quick over an unknown reason, according to an affidavit.
A bullet went through the passenger’s and driver’s side doors of the Subaru and hit a woman’s car, a 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander.
According to the affidavit, the woman and the general manager had followed Watson outside after he became irate and quit.
That was when he pulled out the weapon and began firing, causing several customers to run for cover, the affidavit said.
The general manager’s work vehicle will likely be totaled, with damages estimated around $15,000.
The cost to repair the woman’s car will be around $700.
Watson, 31, is charged with Vandalism of Property $1000 or less, Vandalism of Property $10,000 to $60,000 and two counts of Reckless Endangerment.
