MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Funeral services have been announced for Eliza Fletcher, 34.
Her funeral will be held at Second Presbyterian Church, 4055 Poplar Ave., on Sept. 10 at 10 a.m., according to Canale Funeral Directors.
The family has requested that memorials be made to the Liza Wellford Fletcher Memorial Fund at St. Mary’s Episcopal School, Christ Methodist Day School, and Second Presbyterian Church.
Fletcher was born on Nov. 9, 1987, in Memphis.
She graduated from Hutchison School in 2006.
According to her obituary, she played soccer for the University of Memphis and later completed her undergraduate degree at Baylor University.
She received a Master’s in Teaching from Belmont University. She taught at St. Mary’s Episcopal School.
Fletcher married Richard James Fletcher III on March 8, 2014, and they later welcome two boys, Richard James Fletcher IV and Harry Wellford Fletcher.
Fletcher was murdered after being kidnapped while jogging near the University of Memphis on Sept. 2, according to the Memphis Police Department (MPD).
Four days later, investigators discovered a body matching Fletcher’s description in South Memphis. The body was later confirmed to be that of Fletcher.
Cleotha Abston, 38, has been charged in her kidnapping and murder.
He is being held without bond and is set to appear in court again on Sept. 19.
