GERMANTOWN, Tenn. — Germantown Municipal School District announced Wednesday it will delay the start of the new school year.
The new year will now begin Aug. 17. Classes were originally scheduled to begin on Aug. 6.
GMSD announced the delay in a post on its website.
According to the post, “the increase in parents opting into full-time virtual learning will allow the district to create several specialized positions that solely focus on virtual learning. For this reason, the district will be utilizing its stock-piled inclement weather days to delay the start date of school for students.”
Teachers are still scheduled to report on July 29.
