Gunmen shoot into Sonic with employees inside, rob restaurant, police say

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two men are on the run after breaking into a Memphis Sonic, leaving the cash registers lighter and employees running for safety, according to police.

Memphis Police said that two men went to a Sonic Drive-In on North Germantown Parkway Wednesday, but had no intention of leaving with food.

Instead, according to police, the pair took a black assault rifle and shot out the door to the business to gain entry inside.

Shocking video released by police shows the men bursting through the door, guns drawn, and rifling through doors.

As employees ran for safety, police said the two demanded money from the cash register before running away.

Police believe these two men are responsible for several other business robberies in the Memphis area.

If you have any information about these men, Memphis Police urge you to call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.

Any information that leads to an arrest, in this case, could be worth up to $2,000.
