CRITTENDEN COUNTY, Ark. — Monday afternoon, the Crittenden County Sheriff’s Department was called by a Proctor Farmer who found what appeared to be human remains on his land.
Investigators located teeth which were confirmed to be an upper jaw bone and teeth, and were confirmed as human.
The scene was secured and the Arkansas State Police Investigator was notified who in turn contacted the FBI Crime Scene Unit, a release said.
The release continued:
The scene was secured until their arrival this morning when the FBI Crime Scene unit arrived. after examining the findings and photographing them, they emailed them to an FBI Forensic Archeologist who stated in his/her opinion that the remains were over 100 years old.
The FBI then contacted a State Archeologist from Jonesboro who came to the scene this morning. Doctor Juliet Morrow arrived at around 11:30 a.m. to examine the scene.
I will keep you updated as I learn more. It is possible that this could be an old cemetery or burial ground. It is located West of Highway 147 on Proctor Road in Crittenden County.
