Husband shot, robbed, brutally beaten by another man and his wife, records show

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A husband in Memphis told police that he was kidnapped, shot, robbed and brutally beaten after a nightmare scenario with his wife and another man.

According to a police affidavit, the frightening ordeal happened in November when a man was walking home and saw his wife and another man, 38-year-old Martavious Taylor, walk out of his apartment.

The husband told police that he, his wife and Taylor went for a ride in his wife’s 1998 GMC Jimmy to talk about the relationship between Taylor and the wife.

While driving, Taylor turned around and shot at the husband in the backseat before driving to Taylor’s house and forcing the husband out of the vehicle, according to the affidavit.

Once outside, the husband said that Taylor shot him in the left leg and began beating him in the face with the gun.

While Taylor held the husband on the ground, the husband said he heard his wife say to Taylor “Kill him. He is going to talk and retaliate.”

Eventually, Taylor took the husband’s phone and his wife took $100 from his pocket before forcing him back into the vehicle and dropping him off on Bellevue Blvd., the affidavit said.

On Bellevue, the husband told police that Taylor shot him in the hand twice. Eventually, the husband was able to run away and make it to a nearby hospital. He was then rushed to Regional One Hospital in critical condition with 18 fractures to his face, a broken bone in his left hand and fractured teeth, police said.

Taylor was arrested and charged with especially aggravated kidnapping, especially aggravated robbery, attempted second-degree murder, employing a firearm with intent to commit a felony and being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun.
