Ja Morant named starter in NBA All-Star game

In his third year in the NBA, Morant will make his first NBA All-Star appearance, and he will make it as a starter for the Western Conference.

Memphis has not boasted an All-Star Game starter since Marc Gasol in the 2015 season and has not had a Grizzlies player on the All-Star court since Gasol represented Memphis in 2017.

Morant, 22, has been on a tear this season, averaging 25.8 points per game during his first 37 games of the season, two years after winning Rookie of the Year honors.

The Grizzlies superstar becomes the youngest Memphis player to ever play in the All-Star Game and the only Grizzlies guard to ever get the honor.

Memphis’ biggest star will share the court with Western Conference starting teammates Steph Curry, LeBron James, Andrew Wiggins, and Nikola Jokic.

The 2022 NBA All-Star Game is set to tip-off on Feb. 20 in Cleveland, Ohio.
