MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Shelby County is feeling the impact of the Fall surge of COVID cases. This week the county set a record for the most cases in a single day and the highest seven-day average of new cases since the pandemic started.
“Everybody in healthcare is pleading over the Thanksgiving holiday to be sensible,” said Steve Threlkeld, MD/ Baptist Infectious Disease Specialist.
Businesses are bracing for new restrictions after they inched closer and closer to local tripwires. Doctor Threlkeld rated where we are in the pandemic on a scale of one to 10 as a seven, closer to an eight. He urges all of us not to play with fire.
“I’ve said to patients: you can put on a blindfold and walk across the expressway and make it. Just because you make it. Doesn’t mean you should do it,” said Threlkeld.
