Latino Memphis and Baptist Healthcare educate locals on COVID-19 prevetions through giveaway

MEMPHIS,Tenn. — The global spread of COVID-19 heavily impacted everyone, especially minorities like African Americans and Latinos.

Some Memphis organizations are stepping up to educate people on COVID-19 preventative measures.

Baptist Memorial Healthcare and Latino Memphis joined forces Saturday morning to help give back to the Memphis community.

The giveaway passed out 2,500 masks, paper resources, sanitizers and COVID-19 prevention materials that were divided between the La Michoacana and La Roca area.

“This is the start of a campaign between Baptist and Latino Memphis to help educate the Hispanic community on COVID-19 and prevent new cases in our community,” Baptist spokesperson Kimberly Alexander told FOX13.

For the month of August, Latino Memphis said they will host an event every Saturday.
