At least 8 people wanted in Parkway Village shootout, MPD says

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police are looking for at least eight people wanted in connection to a shootout in Parkway Village.

Several houses and vehicles were hit by gunfire in the 3300 block of Dungreen Street on the afternoon of May 18, police said.

According to police, video showed two vehicles pulled near the scene. Several people got out and fired multiple shots in the direction of two other men.

One of the men returned fire.

At least 8 people were involved.

A Parkway Village resident gave FOX13 the shocking surveillance video that shows the shootout.

It showed the flash of gunfire and the dirt kicked up as bullets flew down the residential street in broad daylight.

One neighbor said he stopped counting after hearing more than 100 shots fired.

Another neighbor said he heard at least 200 shots.

“Shots just rung out, talking about numerous of shots,” said a Parkway Village resident who did not want to be identified because he said he fears retaliation. “I was just laying in the floor looking out the door. Just shots, just started ringing out. It took me back to my childhood, learning how to crawl,” he stated.

One man says he saw kids running into their homes when the shots rang out.

“I guess they was getting out of harm’s way,” he said. “They went across the street I guess to their house. Getting out the way.”

Neighbors say the shooting lasted for at least five minutes.

FOX13 showed the video to Mike Collins, a retired lieutenant from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.

“It looked like a variety of different semi and automatic weapons combined. I thought some appeared to be tech 9′s. I think I saw an assault rifle like a AR 15,” he said. “That’s a lot of firepower and it appeared that it was two factions pretty much in a war-type situation where they’re almost like in a combat zone. It was very disturbing to see that on streets of Memphis.”

Police are still searching for the suspects who were seen on camera getting away in their vehicles.

Suspect Vehicle #1: Possibly a Volkswagen Jetta, black in color, with a broken driver rear quarter window

Suspect Vehicle #2: Possibly a later model Dodge Charger, black in color, with a dent on the driver’s rear door.

Anyone with information about this incident should call Crime Stoppers at 528-CASH.
