MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Local organizations came together Saturday afternoon to promote all to fill out their census information.

The Memphis Urban League Young Professionals (MULYP) partnered with the Memphis Urban League, The US Census Bureau, and UT Students National Pharmaceutical Association to host a Voter Registration and Census Caravan, plus a Neighborhood Clean-Up event.

The caravan went through one of the lowest census count areas of Memphis, the Frayser community, where drivers decorated their cars and encouraged people to complete their census paperwork and register to vote.

“We hope that by providing this service to the community and hosting this caravan, it will encourage our community members to want more and demand better for the community in which they live,” said MULYP President Ashlee Hafford.

“It is our hope they will recognize the importance of completing the census to receive federal funding for schools, roads and many other community needs and also recognize the importance of registering to vote and actually participate in the Fall election.”

The last day to complete your census is Sept. 30.
