To make sure you’re ready to stand apart from the rest, we gathered tips you can use to prepare for events like this and other job opportunities.

Memphis Tourism is hosting a job fair at the Renasant Convention Center Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

More than 40 employers from the hospitality industry will be there, some looking to hire on the spot.

“We always coach students to make sure their resume is targeted to the specific position they are applying for and to make sure the information is relevant,” said Brenda Williams, Southwest Tennessee Community College.

Williams suggested keeping your resume to one page and research the company you’re applying for.

“At a minimum, you want to know what type of service they offer. Are they local, are they national, global?” said Williams.

Rhonda Treadwell with Dress for Success said it’s important to dress professionally as well.

For men, that may be a suit or slacks with a button-down top. For women, that may be a dress, length just above the knee or longer.

“They are putting forth that first impression to look a specific way, so the employer knows who they are and not by the clothes they wear, so they’re dressed appropriately,” said Treadwell.

Don’t forget to wear your mask. Also, there will be free parking in the Renasant Convention Center parking garage at Winchester and Front.
