Man arrested after shooting his brother, police say

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police are investigating after a man allegedly shot his own brother.

Officers responded to the 4800 block of Hillbrook Road for a shooing Wednesday afternoon.

Police said they found one man shot in the chest and the leg. That man was taken to Regional One in critical condition.

While on the scene, the victim’s mother arrived and said the man called her saying that he had been shot by his brother, Gerrod Hearns, an affidavit said.

Hearns was detained by police.

According to Memphis police, officers executed a search warrant in the home and found a small pool of blood on the living room floor, a semi-automatic pistol with the serial number rubbed off in a shoebox on a TV stand, a single shell casing by the couch and a single shell casing near the kitchen.

Hearns was taken into custody, declined to give a statement and was taken to 201 Poplar, the affidavit said.

He is charged with aggravated assault and removing a manufacturing ID plate.
