Man arrested after allegedly stealing $22k in jewelry, Memphis police say

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis police have arrested a man accused of stealing over $22k of jewelry.

On April 12, loss prevention officers at a location in the 3800 block of E. Holmes Road reported that a man was caught on security footage taking jewelry from the building.

The alleged thefts happened three days in April and multiple days in March, according to an affidavit.

The stolen jewelry was valued at $22,466.

The suspect, identified as Anthony Shearer, 28, of Memphis, was arrested.

His vehicle, a 2016 beige Volvo, was seized and towed to the City Lot for further investigation, the affidavit said.

Police found marijuana in two plastic bags inside Shearer’s car.

Shearer is charged with Theft of Property and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
