Man arrested following accidental shooting during birthday party, police say

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man was arrested Sunday after he shot another person during a birthday party.

The shooting occurred in north Memphis in the 2000 block of Lake Park Road.

The victim said he was attending the party and saw Antwan Barron, 20, playing with a gun.

The gun went off and struck the victim in the neck.

A witness told police Barron was playing with the gun on the front porch when it accidentally went off and shot the victim.

Barron was arrested Sunday evening following a search of his home for unlawful possession of a weapon.

He gave a written statement admitting he was playing with the gun when it went off and shot the victim.

Barron is scheduled to appear in court Monday morning.
