Man arrested for attempted murder following shooting on I-240, police say

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is charged with attempted murder following a shooting on I-240 over the weekend, Memphis police said.

The shooting happened Saturday, September 18, on I-240 near Covington Pike.

According to MPD, a man was shot while driving on the interstate and was taken to Regional One in non-critical condition.

The suspect fled the scene.

The Violent Crimes Unit was able to identify the suspect as 33-year-old Mack Finnie.

Finnie was arrested and charged with Criminal Attempt 1st Degree Murder, Employment of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony and Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm, MPD said.

In 2020, there were 83 interstate shootings in Memphis.

This year, Memphis police say they’ve already responded to at least 89 interstate shootings.
