MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is behind bars after allegedly stabbing one person in the Sherwood Forest neighborhood of Memphis.
Officers responded on Jan. 6 to the 3900 block of Stuart Road for a wounding call.
A man told police that he was inside his apartment with two women when another man, the suspect, entered the apartment without permission, an affidavit said.
The suspect struck the victim on the back of the head with an object after demanding the victim to “give it up” and then stabbed the victim multiple times, the affidavit said.
According to records, the victim said he was hit on the back of the head with a pistol but did not see the object.
The victim had several wounds to his face, head and all over his body that required him to be taken to St. Francis Hospital, records show.
Officers found a multiple-inch kitchen knife covered in blood on a table in the apartment of the victim.
A witness told police that the suspect whispered to her that he was going to commit robbery in a previous interaction, the affidavit said.
The suspect, identified as John King, was found nearby with blood and cuts on his hands and feet.
King is charged with criminal attempt first-degree murder and criminal attempt especially aggravated robbery, documents indicate.
He is due in court on Jan. 10.
