Man charged after allegedly shooting at ex-girlfriend’s car on Memphis interstate

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is behind bars after allegedly shooting at his ex-girlfriend’s car on a Memphis interstate.

Police responded Tuesday to a traffic accident at I-40 and Danny Thomas.

A woman told police she and her boyfriend were leaving 201 Poplar when they saw her ex-boyfriend, Marquavious Watson, according to an affidavit.

The woman told police she drove away with her boyfriend in the passenger seat.

The pair noticed Watson was following them as they drove along I-40.

He then sped past them and got in front of their vehicle before firing a gun at the vehicle, according to the affidavit.

The woman lost control of the car and hit a guardrail before hitting a concrete barrier on the interstate.

Her boyfriend was ejected from the vehicle and taken to Regional One in critical condition, records show.

The woman was also taken to the hospital in non-critical condition with cuts and bruises.

She positively identified Watson during a photo lineup at the hospital, records show.

Watson is charged with two counts of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.
