Man charged after victim shot and killed during attempted robbery

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is behind bars after another man was shot and killed during an attempted robbery in Raleigh.

On Sept. 13, MPD responded to a shooting in the 4200 block of Lansford, where they found a man with a gunshot wound lying next to a white Corvette.

According to an affidavit, the man was rushed to Regional One, where he died.

Three days later, the victim’s sister told police a man identified as Alexander Williamson called her the day of the shooting and said her brother had been shot and was on the way to Regional One.

She said Williamson told her he gave her brother an empty handgun and the two had tried to rob someone, records show.

He said the man they tried to rob began shooting at them, and they ran until they stopped at the driveway with the white Corvette.

Williamson said he asked the homeowner to take the victim to the hospital.

Another woman told police Williamson told her the same story, records show.

Police located a man in the 3600 block of Hanna who said two men attempted to rob him while he was walking home from Family Dollar.

According to the affidavit, he said the men drew guns, and one began shooting at him.

He said he returned fire with a Glock 31. Police found the gun after a search warrant was issued.

Police charged Williamson, 20, with second-degree murder.
