Man charged in drive-by shooting that killed 1, injured 4 in North Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is behind bars after one person died in a drive-by shooting in North Memphis.

Memphis police said the shooting happened in the 2200 block of Eldridge Avenue on June 8.

Officers responded to a “man down” just before 12:30 p.m., records show.

They found the man lying facedown on a porch, suffering from a gunshot wound.

According to an affidavit, officers found another man who had been shot lying on the porch steps.

Paramedics pronounced the first man deceased at the scene. The second was rushed to Regional One, the affidavit said.

Police later learned three other shooting victims were taken to Methodist North in a silver Jeep.

One victim identified Justin Farris, 20, as the shooter during a six-person photo lineup, the affidavit said.

Farris is charged with First-Degree Murder, Attempted First-Degree Murder and other crimes.
