Man charged in rape of woman he met on dating site, Memphis police say

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 26-year-old man is charged with raping a woman he met on a dating app, according to Memphis police.

Police responded to a forcible rape around 8:30 p.m. on May 13 in the 1200 block of Azalia, records show.

The victim said she met a man on a dating site called “Meet Me,” according to an affidavit.

She agreed to meet the man, identified as David Kirkwood, at his home.

Once she arrived, Kirkwood allegedly began rubbing her body, making her feel uncomfortable.

Records show she told him to stop repeatedly but he refused.

She told police Kirkwood forcibly removed her clothes and had sex with her without a condom, the affidavit said.

She called police after leaving and was taken to the rape crisis center.

The victim identified Kirkwood in a six-person photo lineup.

On May 31, Kirkwood went to the sex crimes office on N. Main.

He gave a statement saying he had consensual oral sex with the victim, records show.

He was arrested and taken to 201 Poplar.

He is charged with Rape.
