Man charged with attempted murder after shooting at Memphis motel

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is behind bars after a shooting at a local Memphis motel.

It happened the afternoon of April 18 at the Rodeway Inn on American Way.

Police said a woman told them she was sitting in her car with the door open when a man began shooting in her direction.

The woman was hit in her lower left leg, according to an affidavit.

A witness identified Jeterrious Bowens, 19, as a suspect.

The witness said Bowens admitted to firing shots in the motel parking lot while running to a parked black Infiniti after a previous shooting inside the motel, records show.

On Wednesday, Bowens spoke with investigators.

According to the affidavit, he admitted to the shooting.

He was arrested and taken to 201 Poplar.

Bowens is charged with Attempted First-Degree Murder and Employment of a Firearm During Commission of a Felony.
