Man charged with drag racing down Memphis streets

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man was arrested after drag racing down Memphis streets, police say.

Police were on routine patrol Sept. 23 at Millbranch and Winchester when they saw a blue Mustang with Tennessee tags.

The driver revved the engine and took off speeding, “attempting to reach the vehicle’s max speed,” according to an affidavit.

Police attempted to get behind the car, but the Mustang reached a speed over 100 mph, records show.

Police eventually made a traffic stop near Raines at Graceland Road.

The driver, Jarterrius Brown, was arrested for drag racing and reckless driving, records show.

Brown was taken to 201 Poplar, and the Mustang was towed to the city lot.
