Man charged in victim’s shooting death in South Memphis, police say

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis police have arrested a man in the shooting death of another man Thursday night in South Memphis.

The shooting happened in the 1200 block of Azalia Street, police said.

The victim was rushed to Regional One in critical condition but did not survive his injuries, police said.

Shawn Hughes, 26, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, records show.
