MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man was found shot dead this early Sunday morning inside a car in downtown Memphis.

When FOX13 got to the scene, Memphis Police had both entry points to Chickasaw Heritage Park completely shut off near Riverside Blvd. and Esplanade Pl.

We talked to a neighbor who lives nearby.

They didn’t want to appear on-camera but told FOX13 at about 3 a.m. they heard what sounded like five loud bangs, from a big gun, then five or six smaller gunshots.

She said they sounded like they came from a smaller gun.

Then about 3:45 a.m. Memphis Police and emergency vehicles start showing up.

The witness told FOX13 the area is extremely quiet and virtually crime-free, so the crime came as quite a shock.

The victim, a man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

There is no suspect information and this is an ongoing investigation.
