Man allegedly shot, killed car passenger in Whitehaven, police say

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — An alleged argument turned fatal in the Oakshire Apartments parking lot in Memphis.

On Dec. 12, 2021, Memphis Police responded to a shooting call in the 1700 block of Crimson Road at the complex.

Officers found a man laying on his back, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to an affidavit.

The victim was sent to Regional One, where he was later pronounced dead.

Officers also found an apartment that had been shot multiple times, but no one inside was injured.

According to witnesses, a red sedan pulled into the parking lot.

During an argument, the driver, identified as Deveon Howard, shot the passenger in the vehicle multiple times, also striking the apartment behind them, according to the affidavit.

Howard was later identified in a six-person lineup.

He is charged with second-degree murder and reckless endangerment.
