Man shot, critically injured on Highland Strip, police say

MEMHIS, Tenn. — A man was rushed to Regional One Hospital Thursday afternoon after being shot on the Highland Strip near the University of Memphis, according to the Memphis Police Department.

Police said the shooting happened in broad daylight, around 3 p.m., at 567 South Highland near several stores including Whatevers, Retro Grade Vintage Clothing and Burgerim.

A FOX13 crew that walked the 200 feet from our station to the shooting reported seeing between 25 and 30 shell casings in the area.

No information about the shooter or shooters has been released at this time.
