MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office released information about a man wanted in connection with a local murder.
ORIGINAL REPORT: Man shot and killed at Northaven store, SCSO says
On Feb. 8, victim Andre Harwell, 30, was shot and killed in front of the Penny Pantry in the Northaven area.
SCSO said they are looking for 21-year-old Cameron Deshawn Westbrook in connection with Harwell’s murder.
“I just miss his gentle spirit and his love,” said Anna Harwell, Andre’s Harwell’s grandmother.
Officers said Harwell was murdered on February 8 outside the Penny Pantry in Northaven.
“I got there to the store … I saw all of this stuff going on,” said Harwell.
Police have not released a motive.
“These boys don’t care anything about their feelings. They should think about their parent’s feelings, especially their mother’s feelings because I know it would hurt me to death if it was one of my sons that did that,” said Harwell.
Harwell said she recognized Westbrook when she was shown a picture of him.
“I’ve seen that boy around,” she said.
Harwell said she has tried to keep busy since her grandson was murdered so she does not become overwhelmed with grief.
“I used to know when he was walking in my house because I could tell by the way [he] sounded coming down that hallway. I caught myself trying to walk down my hallway and make that same noise this morning but I couldn’t. I know it was him,” said Harwell.
