Man in wheelchair killed in hit and run, police say

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis police hope the public can help find the person responsible for a hit and run that killed a man in a wheelchair.

Officers responded to a fatal hit-and-run crash on Pendleton Street north of Lola Avenue around 7:30 p.m. September 18.

When they arrived, investigators found an unresponsive man in the roadway.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man was in a wheelchair in the bike lane when someone hit him with their vehicle, police said.

The hit-and-run driver did not stop to try to help the man after the crash.

Investigators could not locate any witnesses to the fatal crash, so there is no information regarding the driver’s vehicle.

Investigators said the vehicle that hit the man will have a broken headlight and front-end collision damage.
