Meal plans for students across the Mid-South affected by canceled classes

Coronavirus outbreak: What you need to know

The impact of the novel coronavirus is being felt all across the Mid-South where new cases are being announced every day and new steps are being taken to help limit the spread.

Districts across the county are working to make sure students are staying fed when they will not be at school to receive food.

Tipton County Schools will provide free meals for students at six sites in the county.

The closure of Shelby County Schools due to the coronavirus will impact students who get free or reduced lunch.

Meals will be provided at 20 sites across the county March 23-27 between the hours of 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. each day. Meals will be served to children under the age of 18, and the child must be present to receive a meal.

Blytheville Public Schools will provide meals for any children from ages 0 to 18.

DeSoto County Schools issued their school closure food service plan

Oxford School Districts broke down the following plan in a news release to FOX13 Memphis.

The Oxford School District will continue to provide nutritious meals to students during the temporary closure of schools in six locations throughout the Oxford-Lafayette community. Beginning Tuesday, March 17 through Friday, March 27, OSD will provide free meals on weekdays from 9 am - 12 pm for ALL children (18 years of age and under). Adults can also purchase meals for $2 at these locations.

Students do not need to enter a building for pick-up. Families should look for an OSD school bus in the parking lot at each location. Meals will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Because this is the U.S. Department of Agriculture program, Lafayette County School students and families may also take advantage of these nutritious meals.

Oxford Middle School (222 Bramlett Boulevard)

CB Webb Townhomes (2223 Delores Drive)

Brittany Woods Subdivision (Hwy 6)
