MemFeast looks to feed 5,000 people this Thanksgiving

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Good Samaritans at Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church are getting ready for MemFeast.

On Thanksgiving, this church and eight other locations will be giving away turkey and chicken to people in need.

This Thanksgiving, there is enough turkey and chicken for 5,000 people in Memphis. That’s 2,000 more than last year.

It’s first-come, first-served at nine different locations, one of them being Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church.

“It warms the heart. I mean, we are a firm believer that we are here to serve others,” said volunteer Brian Harris.

This is the third year Harris has volunteered for MemFeast.

Monday night, he called on his fraternity brothers with Kappa Alpha Psi for help.

“It’s good to just have fellowship and be around brothers, and we just enjoyed being around each other,” said Cedric Little.

Harris wants to emphasize anyone can come by to pick up food. It doesn’t matter if you are homeless or not.

“We are going to bless a lot of people on Thursday. Memphians that deserve a good meal like everybody else,” said Harris.
