MEMPHIS, Tenn. — National League of Cities said two people at the conference tested positive for the coronavirus.
Several Memphis City Council Members were at that conference last week in Washington D.C.
Tuesday, the NLC released a statement saying “the National League of Cities learned today two attendees of the Congressional City Conference 2020 have tested positive for COVID-19."
Councilman JB Smiley said he, six other council members, and three city staff members went to the conference.
Some council members have decided to self quarantine.
In a statement to FOX13, Smiley said: “We’re taking all necessary precautions. We’ll not haphazardly put anyone in danger. We’re working with our council attorney to make sure that whatever medium we use to have the council meeting is in compliance with the law.”
FOX13 is monitoring the situation and will keep you updated on-air and online.
