MEMPHIS, Tenn. — What are the odds that you have a Leap Year baby?
Well, according the BBC, the odds of being a Leap Year baby pan out to about 1 in 1,461 babies.
I was like man, are you going to come out on the 29th,” said Welton Jackson. “He came.”
Jackson was over the moon about Asher, who was born at 7:43 a.m.
Asher is Jackson’s second son.
He told us that mom was understandably too tired to go on camera, but that she was doing great.
“Tired,” Jackson said. “But she did it. She’s the champ of the day. He’s going to be special. We know. He’s going to be a blessed one. A happy child. He came out smiling.
For all the years there isn’t a Feb. 29, the Jackson’s think they’ll celebrate Asher’s birthday on March 1.
“Maybe March 1,” he said. “I’m going to let her decide all that.”
But regardless of the details, they told us they’re thankful for their little leapling.
“It’s a blessed day,” Jackson said. “We’re thankful for it. Can’t wait to see his future.”
Krispy Kreme did something special for all the babies and families Saturday.
The company delivered 5-dozen donuts to the hospital Saturday morning in honor of the babies delivered this Leap Day.
