Missing 4-year-old girl found, police say

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — UPDATE 7/16/20 : Harlee Corbett has been located. Memphis Police have canceled the City Watch for the missing 4-year-old.

FOX13 has learned the girl is out of state with her mother. According to an MPD spokesperson, the girl is safe and has been with her mother the whole time.

FOX13 is working to learn whether the mother will face any charges and when Harlee Corbett will return to Memphis.

Memphis police issued a City Watch for a girl who has been missing since Monday night.

According to the alert, on July 13, Harley Corbett, 4, was last seen in the area of 5000 Block of Biscoe Ave.

She is wearing Mickey Mouse Clothing and is 2 feet tall and 35 pounds.

Police believe she is possibly headed towards Houston. She might be with her mother, Nicola Corbett, police said.

If you see her, please call 901-545-2677.

One neighbor told FOX13 police came to her home last night around 9:30 Monday night telling her that Corbett was missing.

Memphis Police put up crime tape, searched through trashcans, and went door to door asking neighbors about the disappearance of the 4-year-old from her Berclair home.

“He said, ‘well, she’s missing,’ and I said, ‘Missing?’ because they watch that little girl all the time, both of them,” a neighbor said.

The neighbor did not want her face to be shown because she said she’s scared. She said Harley just celebrated her birthday party this month in the front yard.

“She’s a sweet girl. she really is. She’s very well mannered,” said the woman.

The girl’s father told FOX13 he put Harley on the couch around 8:40 Monday night when he went to take a shower. He noticed she was missing when he called her name.

FOX13 asked the neighbor what her message is to anyone who may have seen Harley or knows where she is.

“Please bring her home,” she said. “She’s a nice child. she wouldn’t hurt anybody and don’t hurt her. Bring her home, because she’s got a good father.”

Memphis Police say there’s a possibility the girl could be on her way to Houston with her mother, 30-year-old Nicola Corbett, but they are not certain.

They may be in a gray, 2015 Honda Civic with Tennessee license plate number CVF 279.

A neighbor’s surveillance camera shows a car leaving the father’s driveway Monday night.

The neighbor told FOX13 she turned the video over to police. It shows a car backing out of what appears to be the father’s driveway in the 5000 block of Biscoe Avenue. The time was 8:48 Monday night according to the surveillance video.

FOX13 spoke with the father around 6 p.m. Tuesday evening. He said he still has not had contact with his daughter but believes she is with her mother. He said they have joint custody of the child and this was his week to have the child.

Neighbors said the girl’s father called police after 9 p.m. Monday.

“We started searching, looking in the yard. He thought she was playing hide-and-seek, and she’s a sweet little girl. She usually plays out in the backyard, and I just couldn’t just imagine her just wandering off, because she loves her daddy as much as her daddy loves her,” a neighbor said.

Police said they are getting tips. They said they also believe the girl is with her mother, possibly in Houston and ask anyone who has direct contact with her to encourage the mom to do the right thing.
