MEMPHIS, Tenn. — He was a very funny, very competitive, just a down-to-earth person you would want to be around,” said Christeian Hines, a longtime friend of Memphis Police Officer Corille “C.J.” Jones who died in a crash while on-duty.
Following Jones’ death, many are sharing fond memories.
“A lot of people don’t have that skill to be able to connect people and make people feel comfortable,” Hines said.
But, that’s one of the qualities Hines said he will miss about Jones. Hines said not only was Jones a man who never met a stranger, but he was a man who served others.
“He was one of those people who wanted to do for people,” said Hines. Jones was one of two people who died in a crash at Shelby Drive and Pleasant Hill in Capleville early Thursday morning.
“This is just a reminder of the risks our officers take every day as they do their work, and we sincerely hope in the days to come to provide comfort for both families,” said Memphis Police Department Police Chief CJ Davis.
A father, friend and officer who will be greatly missed by many.
”We just have to keep pushing forward and think of what C.J. would want,” said Hines.
FOX13 has learned the name of the other victim, but will not release that information until police do.
