Memphis Union Mission accepting Christmas box donations for men’s shelter

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Looking for ways to spread holiday cheer to the less fortunate this season?

The Memphis Union Mission Opportunity Center (men’s emergency shelter) is accepting Christmas shoeboxes.

The presents will be passed out to the men around Christmas time, according to a Facebook post from the Mission.

Participants can grab a shoebox, fill it with goodies, wrap it and drop it off at the shelter.

Check out a list of needed items: hard candy, writing paper, crossword puzzles, seek-a-word puzzles, pens/pencils, winter wear such as hats, gloves, scarfs, white socks, t-shirts and underwear (Lg/XL).

The Mission asks for no other food except hard candy.

Drop-off is at 383 Poplar Ave. in Downtown Memphis behind the new building on Washington Street.

Donations are accepted Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Mission is closed for lunch from noon to 1 p.m.

Donations will be accepted through Dec. 21.
