MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis Uber and Lyft driver received national attention for delivering food to healthcare workers in Germantown.

It was a Mother’s Day surprise for Tammy Rivera.

She spent more than 50 days in a row delivering meals to frontline workers in the Mid-South.

Her efforts were recognized on the Red Table Talk with Jada Pinkett Smith.

Back in March, Rivera told FOX13 she picked up a hungry hospital worker from Methodist Le Bonheur in Germantown.

She found out the cafeteria closed early which made it hard for workers to get a meal.

That’s when she stepped in to help and from there the story went viral.

“It makes me want to do it even more. To do whatever I need to do to keep it going,” Rivera said.

Rivera said what touched her the most wasn’t getting a new car but was the face of everyone she helped.

“I am so overwhelmed because I don’t get to see those faces,” Rivera said. “I don’t get to see the actual people getting those meals and it’s just amazing.”
