MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A local apartment has been severely damaged after a fiery blaze erupts.
Memphis Fire Department was dispatched to the 1700 block of Millbranch Park Drive at the New Horizon Apartments after reports came in of a fire just before midnight Friday.
On arrival, firefighters saw heavy fire coming from the two-story, wood-frame apartments, according to a release.
19 pieces of Memphis Fire equipment were dispatched and about 47 people responded.
The fire was brought under control just before 1 a.m. Saturday.
No one was hurt.
Officials found that the smoke detector was working and eight apartments sustained some type of damage. The total damage is estimated at $300,000 for the structure and $100,000 for contents.
The fire was caused by a heating unit that malfunctioned in the den, officials said.
