MISSISSIPPI — A Mississippi man is behind bars after Oxford police responded to a drug overdose.
Police responded to the 1100 block of Frontage Road April 26 for a welfare check due to a reported drug overdose.
A man, later identified as James Payton Jones, 23, of Batesville, was found at the location, along with an infant, police said.
Due to drug activity “in the room” and for the welfare of the child, Jones was arrested, police said.
He is charged with Felony Child Neglect.
A judge set his bond at $50,000.
