Memphis, Tenn. — More and more of golfs’ biggest names continue to sign up for the World Golf Championship-FedEx St. Jude Invitational, setting up for a star-studded competition on the greens in Memphis.
On Thursday, the PGA announced that Rory Mcllroy, Collin Morikawa and Justin Thomas all officially committed to the FedEx St. Jude Invitational in the Bluff City at TPC Southwind August 2-8.
Mcllroy heads to Memphis after qualifying for the Invitational with a one-stroke victory over Abraham Ancer at the Wells Fargo Championship in May. This year’s contest will mark Mcllroy’s third consecutive appearance at the FedEx. St. Jude Invitational, a competition he finished tied for fourth in back in 2019.
Morikawa will come into Memphis as one of the hottest golfers on the planet. At just 24, the No. 3 overall player in the world is fresh off his victory at The Open Championship, a win that puts him on par with Tiger Woods as the only players to ever win The Open Championship before turning 25.
Thomas enters the FedEx St. Jude Invitational boasting 14 career PGA TOUR titles after qualifying for the invitational with a win at the 2021 THE PLAYERS Championship. Along with his accomplishments, the 28-year-old will also bring good memories with him to Memphis, having won the FedEx St. Jude Invitational twice previously.
