More than 100 residents at apartment complex say they’re not getting mail

WATCH: More than 100 residents at a Southeast Memphis apartment complex say they're not getting mail

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Residents at the Thirty 94 Apartment in Southeast Memphis said they haven’t received mail for months in their mailboxes.

“I haven’t received mail since September. I’m getting calls saying that my mail has been returned to sender and I’ve had to go to the post office to pick it up. It’s important for people to have that so they can live. People are out of a job and they don’t have the funds that they need to live,” said Michelle Lipiec.

Residents said the doors to the mailboxes don’t properly work and many could possibly have their mail stolen if delivered.

We’ve reached out to the apartment for a comment but have not heard back. The post office said they’ve communicated with the complex for the mailboxes to be fixed before deliveries can be safely done.

“At one point they told me it’s all on the post office. I talked to the post office and they said it’s on the apartment to fix the mailboxes,” said Lipiec.

Residents have to pick up their mail at the post office and many of them say that’s an inconvenience.
