We found out the car belongs to Maxwell.

Her cousin told us Maxwell was sitting inside the car with her friend when the shooting happened.

Maxwell’s family has no idea who the shooter is or why Maxwell was in this neighborhood to begin with, but they believe she knew the shooter.

“Just turn yourself in you took a good person away from us at least turn yourself in,” said Khadijah Maxwell, cousin.

She wants answers from the man deputies said shot her cousin and her cousin’s friend Monday morning.

She told us her cousin is a mother to two little girls, a 2-month-old and 4-year-old.

“She keeps saying where mommy at, where mommy at, and I don’t know what to say,” she said.

Maxwell said Destiny worked as a model.

She has no idea why Destiny sat inside her car in an unfamiliar area in Shelby County because she lives in Mississippi.

As for the suspect, Maxwell said she doesn’t think he’s a stranger.

“She was dealing with somebody,” she said. “I don’t want to say their name but she was dealing with somebody.”

Maxwell said she thought her cousin was going to make it because she escaped the car after she was shot.

She said before she made it to the hospital, her cousin took her last breath.

“She said tell everyone I love them, especially my two kids,” she said.

Investigators said the suspect drove off with the other victim still inside the car.

She was later found shot dead in the abandoned vehicle off Lake Valley Dr.

Deputies still search for the suspect they said is armed and extremely dangerous.

Maxwell said she will do everything she can to protect her cousin's children.

“I love you Destiny, from the bottom of my heart, regardless of what we went through, you knew I loved you,” she said.

Deputies still need surveillance video. If you have any footage that can help with their investigation, call the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.
