MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis mother turned her son in after he allegedly broke into a local high school and stole a guitar, police say
On Oct. 1, Shelby County Schools security reported a burglary at Overton High School that happened Sept. 30.
Police said two suspects entered the school while it was closed through an unlocked door.
The burglars stole two Fender guitars valued at $150 each, according to an affidavit.
The school provided surveillance photos of the suspects.
During an investigation, police identified Martavion Carmichael, 19, as a suspect, records show.
Officers met with Carmichael’s mother, who said he went into the school and took the guitar, according to the affidavit.
Carmichael’s mother identified him in a surveillance photo.
He’s charged with Burglary and Theft of Property, records show.
