MPD hosts panel discussion for Increasing Women Leadership in Policing

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Police Department is hosting an online panel discussion for Increasing Women Leadership in Policing.

The event is Sept. 23 from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. and includes conversation from MPD Chief Cerelyn “CJ” Davis.

The conversation will focus on increasing women leadership in law enforcement.

According to MPD, researched shows women are skilled in problem-solving and de-escalation, and that women officers tend to use less force when making arrests.

Women represent just 13% of all law enforcement officers.

Panelists will share experiences and strategies to increase the number of women police leaders.
