MPD: Husband stabbed wife to death during argument, tried to vacuum up blood

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is behind bars after his wife was found stabbed to death in the Medical District Wednesday.

MPD said the woman was stabbed in the 500 block of Techno Lane at the Edison Apartments.

Police responded to an apartment just before 11:30 a.m., where they found the woman lying in the living room on a loveseat.

According to an affidavit, she was covered in blood and unresponsive.

There was also blood all over the apartment.

Records show the woman had cuts and stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Police identified Robert Washington, 24, as a person of interest during the investigation, according to the affidavit.

He said he stabbed his wife while they were arguing, records show.

He told police he attempted to clean up the blood with a vacuum cleaner and Fabuloso cleaner.

Police found an empty bottle of Fabuloso in a kitchen trash can.

Washington was taken to 201 Poplar.

He’s charged with first-degree murder, records show.
