MPD investigating homicide after man shot and killed near Midtown

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis police are seeking tips in a homicide investigation after a man was shot and killed near Midtown.

On June 7, 2019, officers responded to a shooting call in the 100 block of E. Parkway North.

A man and his wife had parked their silver Lexus SUV in a parking lot at E. Parkway near Poplar Avenue and walked to a nearby party, police said.

Later, the couple walked back to their vehicle and the wife got into the driver’s side as the husband walked around to the passenger’s side.

He was confronted by an unknown man in a dark-colored hoodie, police said.

The wife heard the two arguing, then heard a gunshot, police said.

Her husband was shot.

Two dark-colored vehicles immediately exited the parking lot and drove east on Poplar.

One of the vehicles may have been red, police said.

The victim’s wife said she saw him lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
