MPD: Man arrested after fleeing crash that killed one person on I-240

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is behind bars after a crash on I-240 killed one person.

MPD responded to the crash around 7:40 a.m. Wednesday.

A vehicle had been hit from behind, and the driver was ejected.

MPD said the driver was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, but later died from his injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle, identified as Kelvin Toney, 38, fled the scene but was later found.

Toney was arrested and charged with Failure to Exercise Due Care, Driving while License S/R/C, Leaving the Scene, Violation of Financial Law, and Failure to Report Accident, according to police.
