Investigators with the Gun Crimes Unit determined the shooting happened about two miles away in the area of Reese Road and Southern Avenue at approximately 10:35 a.m.

Police said that’s the area where the same gunman also shot a man around the same time that the child was shot. This man told police that he was driving down Reese near Southern Avenue when the gunman drove by in a blue Chevrolet Malibu and shot at him.

That Malibu has a white front bumper and a dark front driver-side quarter panel, police said. Video from that day shows the unique car driving down Southern Avenue.

Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the event or may have a video involving the vehicles to please get in touch with the Gun Crimes Unit at 901-569-7258.
