MPD: Woman assaulted during overnight robbery

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis police are looking into a sexual assault in North Memphis that happened Monday.

Memphis police are not releasing many details about this incident.

Memphis police said a woman became a victim of sexual assault in the 1600 block of Eldridge Avenue.

Memphis police confirmed a man broke into the home, assaulted the woman and stole items.

A neighbor who did not want to be identified said the people who live in the home have not lived there long.

“All the windows were busted. Street was flooded with police. It’s something that I’m not normally coming home to see.”

No information is being given about the suspect at this time.

The Crime Victim Center said lately their office has been seeing more violent cases of sexual assault and domestic violence.
